An Ode to The Mitchell Library

‘Ode to the Mitchell Library’ is a sight specific project where I designed and hand painted bespoke signage which responded to The Mitchell Library in Glasgow. The Mitchell library is one of the largest public libraries in Europe and one of Glasgows most famous landmarks. It opened in 1877 by Stephen Mitchell who left a large sum of money in his will with a request that it’s vaulues would be centred around accessibility to all people in Glasgow. In this project I found my self most interested in the familiarity we have with civic spaces and the differentiation between the public and private.
